University Positions in Gwangju for Spring, 2013.
[To start teaching on February 25th, 2013.]

The Language Education Centre of Chonnam National University is currently looking for instructors. Candidates must be native speakers and should possess a Master’s degree, preferably in either TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Education; previous teaching experience at the university level will also be looked upon favourably.
Gwangju is located in the south-west corner of the peninsula and has a population of around 1.5million people. It has all the amenities you would expect of a city of this size. There is a domestic airport with daily flights to Seoul (40 minutes) and it is connected to the KTX high-speed train network which allows journey times of just 2.1/2 hours into central Seoul. The campus is one of the largest in Korea, and has a large amount of verdant, wooded areas.
We are currently seeking applicants to teach the following tracks:
Type 1: University Credit Classes; Language Centre Conversation Programs
Type 2: As above (type 1) but with 5 hours of children’s classes per week.

[Some applicants may also be invited to teach on our prestigious Teacher Training programs or occasionally participate in Summer/Winter Camp Classes for adults/children in the future.]
Conditions are as follows:
1) Contract period: 12 months (February 25th, 2013.)
2) 20 teaching hours per week (One teaching hour = 50mins.)
3) Salary: base pay from 2,017,000KRW to 2,256,000KRW
4) Overtime pay: 25,000 – 50,000 won per teaching hour depending on classes
5) Single Housing is provided (Two-bedroom apartments, mostly on campus)
6) Severance pay upon completion of one year contract
7) 8-10 weeks paid vacation
8) Airfare reimbursement: up to 1,000,000KRW upon arrival after submission of receipts for those coming from overseas [-this is not possible for applicants within Korea.]
9) A settlement allowance of 300,000KRW is provided within a week of arrival.
10) Medical Insurance: 50% (standard for Korea)
11) Overtime paid twice per annum.

2) Scanned copies of university diplomas with transcripts (and teaching certificates)
3) Copy of current passport photo page & Alien Registration Card if currently residing in Korea
4) A recent photograph
5) A letter of reference
6) Scans of Apostilled Degree and Criminal Record Check (or notarized at a Korean consulate in Canada for Canadian applicants)If this is in progress to meet visa issuance requirements, they could be sent later

All applications should be submitted by December 2nd, 2012 at the latest. Interviews will be conducted in Gwangju from November 2012 through to early January 2013 – later interviews will only be options for those with permanent Korean residency visas. Phone interviews may be offered for outstanding candidates who reside abroad.
