Core Studies, Academic Studies and Bachelor Support Programmes
Full-time, 2-year renewable contract
The Foundation Programme prepares students to function effectively in English to meet the challenges and expectations of an academic environment which fosters creative and critical thinking; and advances research and development for the benefit of the individual, the university and society as a whole.
The German University in Oman (GUtech) is currently recruiting qualified, experienced academic professionals to contribute to the development of an expanding Foundation Programme, which offers three levels of study: an entry level Core Studies Programme; an Academic Studies Programme; and a Bachelor Support Programme providing tuition for undergraduates.
Responsibilities include teaching up to 20 contact hours per week, contributing to curriculum development, testing and assessment, student advising and other student support activities.
Qualifications and experience
Qualifications for an English Lecturer position include a Master’s degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics from a reputable, accredited university, or an RSA DELTA from a recognised institution, in addition to significant overseas experience in teaching ESL/EFL at tertiary levels. Candidates with a BA and a relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, CELTA) from a reputable institution will be considered for teaching positions on the Core Studies Programme.
Salary and benefits
A competitive tax-free salary includes an accommodation allowance; annual increments based on national labour laws and the GUtech performance-based evaluation system; regional medical insurance; annual air tickets for the faculty member and eligible dependents; end-of-service gratuity; paid annual leave of 40 working days, in addition to religious and local holidays.
