ESL/EFL Teaching Position in Japan Sendai, Japan

ESL/EFL TEACHING POSITION IN JAPAN

SENDAI, JAPAN: Full-time ESL/EFL instructor needed from the beginning of April in 2013, to teach English communication skills to all ages at a private language school, I/You Eikaiwa, in Sendai, a city of nearly one million in northeastern Honshu. Small classes in a local area, but bigger kindergarten classes and college classes, too. Must enjoy working with small children. University graduate with TEFL/TESL experience preferred. One-year contract (minimum, renewable for second year if both parties are in agreement.).
JOB DUTIES: Up to 90 hours of teaching per month. Forty to fifty hours per month of curriculum and materials development, meetings, and workshops.
SALARY: ¥230,000/month for first year. Overtime pay of ¥2400/hr for more than 90 teaching hours per month. After one year we pay either 30,000 yen or 50,000 yen at the end of the second year toward travel expenses.
PAID VACATION TIME: In addition to all Japanese national holidays, thirteen days in August, fourteen days at Christmas/New Year's, and three days during the contract year, all with full pay.
OTHER BENEFITS: A special bonus of 50,000 yen will be paid to help you get settled in your new life in Japan. Part of return airfare paid upon completion of one-year contract. The school will locate an apartment in the area and pay the initial deposits, except for a one-time deposit of 20,000 yen, which will be applied to any cleaning and damage charges accruing when the teacher evacuates the premises (This will be deducted from the salary of May and June-10,000 yen each month.). We also furnish the apartment, apart from bedding--you'll have to buy your own sleeping stuff. Upon occupancy, the teacher will pay the monthly rent (about 50,000 yen per month), utility bills, and a lease fee of 4,000 yen per month for the furnishings. Working visa sponsorship is offered. Free Internet access for teachers at school. Sendai is rated by the Japanese as one of the three best cities to live in Japan. In winter, good skiing is less than one and half-hour away by car, bus, or train.
WORKING ENVIROMENT: This school is established in 1980. It is a very small school but a good quality school. There are about 90 students now, and in addition we have five outside kindergartens’ contracts and one private college contract to teach their classes. There is a wonderful manager and a Japanese full-time teacher along with one full-time foreign teacher. Students are all different ages; some are cute babies with mothers and they come with a strong desire to learn English. This is a job you will never forget. The work is hard but incredibly rewarding. You really get to know your students on a personal level, and students will touch your hearts!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Applicants must live in US or Canada, especially Washington and Oregon States or Vancouver BC area to be able to have personal interviews or online interviews. Applicants must be English native speakers. A couple is welcome, but one full-time and maybe one part-time position available. Working holiday visa holders are welcome to apply for one part-time position. Applicants must have a passion for teaching English, especially teaching small children, and willingness to grow as a teacher. No Japanese language ability is required.
