Location:
KWU is a university located in Gwangju in the southern part of the Republic of Korea. It’s the fifth largest city in South Korea and is growing very quickly. Being situated in the heart of a large agricultural area, the life style is a little quieter and slower than that of the bigger cities. Gwangju is about 3 hours away from Seoul with lots of convenient bus routes as well as train and air service. The private campus of KWU is nestled at the bottom of a popular mountain for hikers and the landscaping on campus is beautiful so you feel like you’re living in a park. A five-minute walk puts you in the local residential area for all immediate necessities and buses to the downtown area. The university students have a lot of spirit and pride for their campus.
Position:
All applicants should be currently residing in Korea. Also, they should be fluent in English and hold a degree from a recognized university. They should have a professional attitude, a passion for teaching all age groups and a willingness to be flexible. As well as teaching various English classes to university students, there are some adult conversation classes in the evening and sometimes a demand to teach off campus. Preference will be give to applicants with experience in teaching TESOL and/or teaching experience in Korea.
Salary and Benefits
1. Monthly salary: In accordance to University policy.(Normally new instructors will receive between 2.0 to 2.1 million won depending on their degree)
2. The contract will be a yearly contract renewable based on mutual agreement. An incentive can be provided based on performance evaluations and contributions to the university.
3. Vacation: 4 weeks in the summer and 4 weeks in the winter.
4. Overtime: 30,000 won per hour for time worked in excess of 17 hours per week during the university semester.
5. Apartment
6. Medical insurance.
7. Participation in “The Korea Teachers Pension Corporation”.
8. Shared office with a computer.
Qualifications
- English native speaker with a BA/BS (minimum)
- English, Education, and Linguistics, majors are preferred
- Those in Korea and have Korean teaching experience are preferred
- TESOL qualification and at least one year teaching experience preferred
- Master's Degree is preferred
Responsibilities
Professors will:
- Teach 17 hours per week.
- Maintain academic records, assist with placement tests, assign grades, write reports as required and assist other faculty when needed.

- Proof of Teaching Experience: It must be in the form of a verification of employment listing the following:
1) name and contact information of the employee, 2) employment period, 3) position,
4) job description and duties.
- Any English related certifications
- 2 recent letters of recommendation
- PASSPORT, and alien card (if currently employed in Korea)
- Document(s) of criminal records check (for applicants who pass the interview)
