The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) is open for direct applications for the fall 2012 recruiting period. Positions are limited and only available at elementary schools under SMOE


Pay : 1.8 ~ 2.7 million won per month (depending upon experience and qualifications)
Contract Period: August 25th, 2012 to August 24th, 2013
Vacation: 21 vacation days (1 week bonus vacation if contract is renewed)
Sick Days : 15 days
Entrance and Exit Allowance: If an applicant is coming from abroad an entrance allowance of 1.3 million won will be provided and an exit allowance of 1.3 million won at the end of the contract (2.0 million instead of the exit allowance in case of a contract renewal). Those transferring within South Korean to SMOE and those already with residence in Korea are not granted an entrance allowance.
Housing : A one room studio apartment or 500,000 won per month housing allowance
Settlement allowance: Those new to SMOE will receive a 300,000 won settlement allowance in their first paycheck.
Job Hours : Will follow the normal working hours of the school. 22 teaching hours per week; any teaching hours over 22 are overtime. A total of 40 hours of work per week: around 18 hours of preparation time.
Job Duties:
1. Conduct English classes in joint cooperation with Korean homeroom or English language teachers.
2. Prepare teaching materials and activities for English language education.
3. Assist with and/or lead the development of teaching materials related to English language education.
4. Conduct English conversational classes during English Camp in summer and winter breaks.
5. Assist with and/or lead activities related to English language education and other extracurricular activities within the school, the District Office of Education and/or the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (Judging English speaking competition, voice recording for listening tests, English camp etc.)
6. Conduct English conversational class(es)/course(s) for Korean teachers and/or students.
7. Perform other duties as designated by the Employer.

5-Scanned copy of Criminal Record Check (Federal Level ONLY) MUST have an apostille attached. No online or local county/STATE background checks. (If you are Canadian, notarized by the Korean consulate is fine for the Record check and diploma). Must be 6 months valid from start date of the contract (March 1st or August 25th).
6-Scanned copy of Transcripts from BA and MA (if any) GPA of 2.8 or higher
7-Scanned copy of Diploma (do not send Original) with apostille attached. You may want to get two copies just in case. (if you have MA or higher you will need all diplomas to have apostilles attached) (If you are Canadian, a consular seal by the Korean consulate is fine). For those from the USA, you may get a copy of your diploma with an apostille from the STATE level but background checks must have apostilles from the U.S. Dept. of State
8-Scanned copy of Passport (picture page)
9-Scanned copy of Proof of employment letters (if any)
10- Scanned copy of teacher¡¯s certificate or licenses, TESOL/TEFL (if any)
E-mails with partial or incomplete documents will not be accepted.
