JOB OPENING: Full-Time English Language Instructor
One-Year Renewable Contract
Start Date – January 7th 2013
GNUCR, a joint project between the University of California, Riverside, and the district city government of Gangnam, is seeking qualified English language teachers. GNUCR offers an Intensive English Program composed of six levels. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. UC Riverside supplies the curriculum and manages the academic program. Instructor contracts are with the City of Gangnam.
QUALIFICATIONS:
l) Preferred -- M.A. in TESOL or DELTA; Minimum -- B.A. and TESOL certificate;
2) At least 2 years experience teaching in an intensive English program;
3) Experience teaching academic English
4) Native fluency/command of Standard English.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to, the following): Teaching 20-25 hours per week. Work hours are 8:30-4:30. The program is divided into six, eight-week sessions. In four sessions, teachers teach twenty (20) hours/week, and in two sessions, teachers teach twenty-five (25) hours/week. Teachers teach a combination of skills (reading, writing, oral skills development, grammar) classes at different levels. In addition, teachers are responsible for: 1) attending teachers’ meetings; 2) participating in student activities; 3) counseling and assisting students; 4) serving on committees; 5) reviewing and developing curricula (including e-learning materials).
DETAILS: 1) 2.65-2.8 million won/month depending on qualifications and experience; 2) airfare if hired outside of Korea; 3) 50% of health insurance and national pension paid; 4) housing allowance of 500,000 won per month; 5) 20 paid vacation days--breaks between sessions; 6) overtime available at 35,000 won/hour or 50,000 won/hour depending on schedule.

Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview. Finalists requiring an E2 visa must comply with the new E2 visa regulations. The first six months of employment are considered probationary. There is a one-week, unpaid training period (housing provided) prior to the start date. Teachers hired outside of Korea should be able to arrive in Korea two weeks prior to start date.
