English Teaching Position in Fuji City, Japan from March 2013


Pioneer Language School has a vacancy for an English teacher in Fuji City starting March 2013. Pioneer Language School has been providing high quality English classes for Japanese students since 1981. We are a small, friendly school with a growing student base. Our students are mainly children (from age 2 and upwards) and we also teach adult and company classes. We use the PLS System in our elementary school classes. On-the-job training, including how to teach the PLS System, is provided with lots of support, especially in the first few months. Fuji City is a small, coastal city at the foot of Mt. Fuji in Shizuoka prefecture, a couple of hours from Tokyo. Fuji is an attractive place to live in with lots of shops and amenities and a large foreigner/ex-pat community.
Requirements:
- Native English speaker
- University degree
- Driverfs license
- Must like working with children
- A positive attitude, professionalism, good organization and ability to work in a team.

Preferred:
- An EFL teaching qualification (e.g. Trinity or CELTA certificate)
- Teaching experience
- Experience with young children
- Creative talents (music, games, event planning, etc.)
- Experience living abroad

Job Description:
- Working Monday to Friday, 12:30pm - 9:30pm (including a one hour lunch break).
- Teaching 30-50 minute classes for students from age 2 up to adults.
- A maximum of 25 hours teaching time per week.
- Participating in weekly teacherfs meetings.
- Participating in occasional school events (e.g. speech contest, Christmas party).

Wages and Benefits
- A one year, renewable contract.
- Salary 250,000 yen/month for the first three months, rising to 255,000 yen afterwards. Any overtime will be paid at 3000 yen/hour.
- Full working visa sponsorship will be provided.
- A 50,000 yen bonus upon completion of first year contract.
- Approximately 30 paid vacation holidays a year (including summer, winter, fall and spring holidays, and various national holidays throughout the year).
- Assistance will be provided in setting up a bank account, and entering into Japanfs national health insurance program.
- Furnished housing available at approximately 50,000 yen per month rent.
