Academic Coordinator Teacher - Winter SEC Program Position at LinguaExpress at Sookmyung Women’s University



We are currently looking for enthusiastic and hard working ESL teachers to add to our staff. Multiple positions are currently available. This position entails teaching and participating on school activities.
Description
Position: Academic Coordinator Teacher
ESL Teachers
Period: January 2, 2013 to January 29, 2013 / 4 weeks
Must be available between 9:00am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday
Salary: Approximately 4,000,000 kw/4weeks
(Approximately 25hours/week)
Other benefits: Lunch is included in this program.
Additional incentives are available to an individual who participates
in other activities.
Teacher Position Summary
Teachers are responsible for all aspects of classroom management within their designated classes, as well as adherence to our curriculum, helping students achieve their academic goals through English language instruction and preparation for standardized tests.
Educators will teach one or more classes of approximately 20 students and participate in activities with campers and staff. We are looking for highly energetic ESL teachers to help us deliver quality programs.
Educators should be energetic, organized, creative, team oriented and have strong backgrounds in teaching ESL. They must be willing to embrace the diverse cultural environment we offer with our programs. Teachers will be allowed to develop their own lessons and activities.
Students receive 15 hours of English core classes a week and 10 hours of elective classes. Generally 5 days of classes per week.
Teachers participate in a broad range of camp activities including: debate, essay contest, Saturday activity, etc.
Key job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Teach classes using our curriculum, across multiple levels, as assigned
- Capable of teaching all classes as specified on the curriculum;
- Assign and correct homework and tests;
-Prepare lesson plans according to established syllabus
-Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, including maintaining classroom
facilities
-Maintain accurate record keeping for daily attendance and student performance
-Complete all paperwork within required deadlines
-Test, evaluate, and counsel students regarding their academic performance and goals
-Attend staff meetings and in-house workshops; participate in ongoing teacher training
programs
-Become familiar with and adhere to program policies and procedures
-Effectively communicate with your head teacher regarding planned and unplanned absences;
provide clear instructions and materials for substitutes
-Strong communication and organizational abilities;
- Neat, creative, patient and methodical, resourceful and fast-thinking;
- Monitor own students' progress and ensure student outcome;
- Participate and help on parties and ceremony
- Offering academic student counseling
- Making out the final transcript of individual students
Preferred Qualifications
- Native English speaker
- EdM. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or Linguistics, or Bachelor's degree plus certification to teach ESL
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching ESL in a group setting
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience at the college level
- Must be authorized to work in South Korea
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and a strong sense of responsibility
Academic Coordinator Position
LinguaExpress has an immediate opening for a temporary Academic Coordinator position for Winter English Camp. The Academic Coordinator reports to the Head Teacher and offers support to students and teachers.
Some of the responsibilities include, but not limited to
- Conducting orientation for new students
- Student counseling
- Teacher assistance
- Planning and conducting on camp activities
- Correcting paperwork
- Sending attendance warnings and monitoring students on expulsion
- Administering placement tests/ level-up tests
- Interview students for level placement and evaluate students for level promotion;
- Substitute teaching for classes when necessary
- Assist in the process of curriculum review and development;
- Prepare and implement lesson plans;
- Teach regular classes
- Act as academic coordinator helping students achieve academic goals
- Assist head teacher on special academic projects
- Midterm/Final Exam/Weekly Test Preparation
- Updating weekly student academic progress report
- Reporting to Head Teacher wrapping up various kinds of reports from each home room

Desired Qualifications:
- Native English speaker
- Must be authorized to work in South Korea
- EdM. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or Linguistics, or Bachelor's degree plus certification to teach ESL
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching ESL in a group setting
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience at the college level
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills
- Customer service experience
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Knowledge of second language is highly preferred
Candidates must demonstrate teaching knowledge and skills for 10minutes once he/she passes the application review process.
