Adjunct Professor position at Sangji University in Wonju


Sangji University has an opening for an Adjunct Professor (non-tenure-track) in the Department of British and American Language and Literature. We are looking for someone who is serious and professional.
DESCRIPTION
Sangji University (enrollment 7,700) is a private university located in Wonju, Gangwon Province. The department faculty consists of 8 Korean professors and 5 non-Korean professors. There are about 160 undergraduate students in the English department. Students choose from 2 majors within the English Department: TESOL or English Language & Literature. Foreign professors primarily teach conversation and writing to both English and non-English majors.

The city of Wonju (pop. 320,000) is about an hour and a half east of Seoul by bus or train.
DUTIES
1. Hours
-Teaching (14-17 hrs/wk, overtime paid above 30 hours for the fall and spring combined)
-Office (4 posted hrs/wk)
-English Cafe (1-2 hrs/wk, paid at 20,000 won per hour)
-Faculty Meetings (a few every semester)

2. Other: grading (and being available during grade challenge period), keeping attendance, creating syllabi, preparing for and participating in staff meetings, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Serious, professional teacher
-Masters Degree in a relevant field (English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics)
-University teaching experience
-Currently in Korea

BENEFITS
-Salary: based on the university scale. Salary is dependant on educational background and number of years of university teaching experience. Expected range: 2.4 million won - over 3 million won per month. A raise is given every year.
-Apartment: Studio apartment off-campus (approximately 12-pyoung)
-Vacation: summer and winter, though required camps are not common, but possible.
-Office: shared with 1 other professor with computer, printer, bookshelf, etc.
-Health insurance: Enrolled in the national system (NHIC)
-Pension: Enrolled in the National Pension Service
