KMA IS HIRING! - Seoul, Korea


Korea Military Academy (KMA) is a four-year college pursuing a special purpose of instructing and training cadets so that each graduate will have the essential leadership qualities to become a successful Army officer. KMA, located in one of the most agreeable areas in Northeastern part of Seoul, is now accepting applicants to join our team of English language instructors. We are looking for a Full-Time English Instructor and eagerly waiting for the applications of potential candidates.
Main Responsibilities
♦ Teach undergraduate level courses and contribute to the continued development of English programs.
♦ Each instructor will be required to work 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00 during summer hours and 08:30-17:30 during winter hours). This will consist of 9~20 hours of instruction, 10 office hours and 10 hours of class preparation.
♦ He or she will teach English courses (including advanced undergraduate courses in their area of concentration to English majors), develop English language instructional programs, and occasionally do editorial work for the school.
♦ The 10 hours of class preparation includes preparation and review of lesson plan, preparation of examinations and quizzes, recording of instructional tapes and audio-lingual examination and so on.
Qualifications and Experience
♦ All candidates should be native speakers of English and must have a university degree or equivalent from an English-speaking country. (Candidates with a graduate degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, English Language and Literature, or Foreign Language Education are highly recommended)
♦ At least one year of language teaching experience is required.
♦ TESOL / TEFL certificate or Secondary Teaching Credential is highly desirable.
♦ Familiarity with technologies supporting second language learning (such as computer based teaching methods) is highly desirable.
♦ The candidate must be able to work from March 1, 2013.
♦ Military background can be a plus.
Terms and Conditions
♦ The position starts on March 1, 2013. At the end of every 12 months' contract, an extension for a year will be considered.
♦ This is a non-tenure track line.
♦ Housing: An apartment with 2 bedrooms on campus will be provided rent-free. Payment for utilities (Internet, electronic, water, and gas fees) not included.
♦ Monthly salary of 2,400,000 Won (before tax and pension payments, which may or may not be reimbursed at the termination of stay in Korea, depending upon mutual treaties concerning the pension payment between Korea and the applicant's home country).
Benefits
♦ At the completion of each year's contract, a bonus of 2,400,000 Won will be paid.
♦ Access to military medical facilities, partial coverage of medical insurance (50%), and various state of the art sports facilities at KMA.
♦ Paid vacations: 15 days during summer break, 10 days during winter break.

♦ On-site interviews will be held between January 7th, 2013 and January 11th, 2013. Phone interviews will not be conducted, so you must be able to show up to the interview.
