Writer/Editor for Teen English Newspaper Wanted - Seoul, Korea (Mapo-gu)


NE TIMES, a weekly English newspaper brand for teen learners, is looking for a full-time writer/editor for its two newspapers: NE TIMES and NE TIMES Kids.
Primary responsibilities include:
♦ Writing and proofreading news articles and essays for an English education environment
♦ Composing and editing EFL/ESL learning materials for primary and secondary school students
♦ Participating in the weekly budget meetings and planning of newspaper content
Especially, we are looking for someone who has a love and enthusiasm for writing and is able to write on a range of topics at various levels of English learners. In addition, he or she must be willing to actively contribute to the weekly operation of the newspapers in different ways.
NE TIMES is published by Neungyule Education Inc., a leading publisher of English-education materials. Our office is located near the Hongik University area of Seoul, within walking distance from the Hongik University Subway Station (Line 2).

Necessary Qualifications
- Native speaker of English or of equal fluency (Korean Americans with South Korean citizenship accepted)
- Moderate fluency in Korean and knowledge of Korean culture preferred
- Bachelor¡¯s Degree from an accredited university
- Bachelor¡¯s Degree in English, Linguistics or Education preferred
- Master¡¯s Degree OR 2 years experience in editing ESL/EFL or other materials preferred
- TESOL/CELTA certificate holders preferred
- Some experience in teaching preferred

Contract and Benefits
1. Contract: one-year renewable contract (sponsorship of E7 work visa, if needed)
2. Salary: Highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience
3. Working Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 6:30 pm (some overtime may be required)
4. Completion Bonus: one month's pay upon completion of contract
5. Air ticket (round trip, economy class) to Japan for visa renewal if necessary
8. Insurance: medical, health and accident insurance shared 50/50 between the company and the employee
9. Vacation: 15 days of paid vacation, most of which is to be used in the spring and late summer when the newspaper takes a break.
10. Bereavement leave: 5 days of unpaid leave
