Non-Tenured Faculty Position (Native English/German Speaker) for the Spring Semester, 2014

1. Recruiting Field and Position
Department: The Department of General Education
Teaching Field: English/German Instructor(Native-Speaker)
Position Status: Non-Tenure track(Two-year, renewable contract)
Notes: A master degree-holder in English/German as a Foreign Language or an equivalent area is preferred
2. Qualifications
A successful candidate will be:
1) a native English/German speaker with foreign nationality who has no reason to be disqualified from working at a private university in Korea.
2) a baptized Christian belonging to Korea Evangelical Holiness Church(KEHC) or a baptized Christian who agrees with the basic evangelical principles of KEHC, whose appointment will not cause conflict with the church constitution and who is able to have a membership of KEHC following appointment.
3) a candidate who agrees to the educatioanal principles espoused by Seoul Theological University and is willing to teach according to those principles.
4) a candidate capable of maintaining the dignity of being a faculty of Seoul Theological University.
3. Initially Required Documents by December 5, 2013
1) Requirement
- Resume (should include a personal photo, baptism information, legal status info in Korea and the contact-information of the attending-church and involvement with church ministry if any)
- A Copy of Passport and A Copy of Aliens Registration Card in Korea x 1

4. Additionally Required Documents by December 27, 2013
The school will individually ask selected successful candidates for the following documents.
1) Church membership certificate(school form) x 1
2) Doctrinal Consent Form(school form) x 1
3) An abstract of the dissertation or thesis.
4) Official college, graduate or doctoral diploma or graduation certificate x 1 each
5) Certificates of work experience (if applicable) x 1
6) Personal Essay(school form) x 1
7) Police Check x 1

5. Evaluation Process
1) 1st Stage: Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their documents and compatability of their major field of study to the recruiting field.
2) 2nd Stage: Open lecture(January 10, 2014, Open lecture schedule and topic will be individually notified to the selected successful candidates from the 1st stage)
3) 3nd Stage: On-campus interview (January 14, 2014).
4) 4nd Stage: On-campus interview (January 23, 2014).
6. Others
1) All other matters pertaining to the application not mentioned here will be in accordance with the university personnel regulations and the criteria for selecting new faculty.
2) The expected appointment date for the non-tenure track faculty (native-speaker) is March 1, 2014. And, in accordance to our university's regulations, the new faculty will be offered a fixed term full-time contract with the university, receiving an annual salary paid out in equal monthly payments.
3) Native English faculty will be provided with housing. A housing subsidy will be provided instead when housing is not provided or requested.
4) Native English faculty is responsible for 15 hours of lectures per week.
5) The term of agreement for native English/German faculty will be for two years. This is renewable based on the mutual agreement of both parties at the end of the specified term following an evaluation process.
6) All application materials being submitted must be original documents.
7) Application materials may not be returned.
8) If, at any stage during the selection process, it is discovered that you have provided false or inaccurate information regarding your credentials and experience, you will be disqualified from the entire process and your appointment canceled or nullified even after you have received your appointment.
9) All documents must be within 3 months of the date of submission.
10) If no candidates meet the university's requirements, the university reserves the right to suspend the hiring process.
11) Candidates selected on the first stage (document-evaluation) will be individually notified of the second stage, interview schedule.
12) If hired, candidates must submit a certificate of physical health issued by a general hospital. If the university considers the candidate's health to be a problem, the hiring may be canceled.
