Assistant Professor Positions in Busan University of Foreign Studies


Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) is currently seeking to fill assistant professor positions in the Division of English & Division of Global Dual Degree.
One of the sources of BUFS' academic strength can be found in foreign languages and cutting-edge language education with over 83 foreign faculty members representing 24 different nationalities. We are a private university located in Busan, the largest port city in South Korea.
1. Division of English
* Qualifications;
The successful applicants MUST:
1) be a native English speaker
2) hold a Master¡¦s degree or above
3) have at least 2 years of teaching experience at an institution of higher education.

2. Division of Global Dual Degree
* Qualifications;
The successful applicants MUST:
1) be a native English speaker
2) hold a Master¡¦s degree or above in either one of two fields of study; 1) Religion or 2) History
3) have at least 2 years of teaching experience at an institution of higher education.
* Number of openings: 1

3. Work Conditions (applicable to both divisions);
* Position: Assistant Professor
* Period of Employment: September 1, 2012 ¡V August 31, 2013, 1 year (Renewable)
* Salary: 28,008,000 Korean won per annum (based on weekly teaching hours of 12) with overtime payment for teaching more than 12 hours per week.
* Benefits
1) Housing: A partially furnished UNSHARED apartment will be provided.
2) Basic Medical Coverage provided through National Health Insurance
3) Transportation: A successful candidate hired directly from overseas (Overseas hiring) will be offered either one way airfare between the point of hiring and Busan or one-way airfare from China/Japan to Busan for the purpose of obtaining a Working Visa (E-1).

6. Phase 1 Application Documents include:
1) Cover Letter
2) Resume (NOTE: MUST include: the division you applying for, name, birth date, photo(3x4), nationality, Educational Background (please specify DD/MM/YY, address of the institutions where your degree was issued, registrar's office contact info), major, teaching experiences, current visa status, contact information including your (cell) phone number, email, mailing address)
3) A copy of passport
4) A copy of your LATEST university diploma & transcript only
=> Should submit the said documents, otherwise you are considered INELIGIBLE candidate.

7. Application and Interview
* Interview: ONLY those who passed the applications assessment conducted by BUFS hiring committee will be considered for the interview. The detailed interview schedule including interview date and site will be notified to you BY EMAIL. Absence of notification by our university means that you are considered INELIGIBLE.
Interview followed by the class demo is expected to take place in July.

* Shortlisted applicants for the interview will be required to submit additional documents (Phase 2) at the time of the interview. The description of the Phase 2 will be informed only to those who meet the criteria for the interview. Failure to provide the Phase 2 documents will invalidate the application and terminate the hiring procedure.
