"The Department of English Education at Seowon University is looking for well qualified and highly motivated full-time instructors who are interested in teaching English to English education majors."
1. Position: Full-time Instructor of Department of English Education (non-tenure track)
2. Openings: 2
3. Qualifications:
(1) Native speaker of English
(2) MA (or BA with an excellent qualification in college-level teaching experience)
(3) Degrees in English, Education, Linguistics (preferred)
(4) TESOL/TEFL certificate (preferred)
4. Main Responsibilities:
(1) To teach English conversation, writing, and other English-major related courses
(The full-time Instructor may be given extra hours upon request of the university)
(2) To teach at least 12 hours a week during each semester
(3) To teach English summer and winter school programs (up to 12 hours a week)
5. Payment and Overtime Allowance:
(1) The annual salary for the full-time instructor is 28,800,000 Won
(2) Overtime rate is 20,000 Won per hour above 12 hours.
(3) Health Insurance: The full-time instructor must join the Korea Teachers' Pension Fund
and pay a portion of the monthly premium according to the Korea Teachers' Pension Law.
(4) Taxes: The full-time instructor must pay any applicable Korean taxes as required
by law.
6. Vacation: 8 weeks per year (4 weeks after the summer school; 4 weeks after the winter school)
7. Housing: A full-time instructor must choose one of 2 options that University provides.
- First option
(1) A furnished apartment is provided at the University¡¯s expense.
(2) Utilities are not included. (Utilities: water, electricity, gas, phone, TV and other basic expenses. Also, apartment maintenance cost must be paid on the first month all together-30,000Won a month * 12month = 360,000Won)
(3) The Full-time Instructor is expected to share his/her office with another instructor.
(4) The Full-time Instructor must pay repair charges due to damages caused by his/her
carelessness and all outstanding balances of his/her bills before his/her contract termination.
- Second Option
(1) University provides the full-time instructor with certain amount of money as support fund for his/her housing.(Instructor can find own place)It would be subject to taxation.
(2) The amount of money is in accordance with University¡¯s policy.
(3) If Seowon university provides the full-time instructor with money, Seowon will not provides any housing.
8. Contract Duration: March 1, 2013 – February 28, 2014

- Candidates out of Korea: A video interview would be accepted.
- Candidates in Korea: A face-to-face interview is required.

(3) Interview: Nov 05 ~ Nov 16, 2012
