Wonderful Opportunity on Jeju Island

We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified English language instructor to work with us at SEC English School on Jeju Island, South Korea. We are looking for a teacher to start as soon as possible but are willing to wait for the right teacher. We are especially interested in teachers with a CELTA or equivalent language teaching qualification and/or experience teaching in Korea. Apply with picture and resume to sec_english@hotmail.com . Also please let us know whether you have your documents all ready.
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
We teach students ages 7 - middle school. We have an excellent program with a lot of support behind it. Binders with materials including related reading, listening, vocabulary, grammar, communication and assessment activities have been developed (and are always being improved upon) to supplement the core texts and readers. Teachers also have access to many of the best ESL resource books on the market to help create fun and useful lessons. We work on all skills, reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary and pronunciation. We teach 5 X 60 minute classes a day. A teacher teaches the same students Mon. Wed. and Fri. and a different group of students Tues. and Thurs.. Most of our classes are five times a week--so if a foreign teacher has the class on Mon/Wed/Fri, then a Korean teacher has the class on Tues/Thurs. Some classes come three times a week and have both the foreign and Korean teacher on the same day.
Our teacher will work Monday to Friday. Classes run at our school from 2:25-10:10 p.m., but these are not each teacher¡¯s individual teaching hours. We schedule classes back to back, and we have a school wide break time for 20 minutes. (i.e. if your first class starts at 2:25, your last class would finish at 8:00 or if your first class starts at 3:30, your last class would finish at 9:05. In all honesty, we do not have any classes from 9:10-10:10 p.m. but we¡¯d like to leave the option open if needed in the future.) We expect our teachers to be well prepared for classes and to do their best to contribute to the cumulative experience, wisdom, and resources of a team dedicated to developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive program for teaching English to Koreans.
ABOUT OUR LOCATION
We have a new building in Samhwa, just up from Samyang. Most of our teachers live in Samyang, a small ocean-side community about 10-15 minutes by bus outside of Ku Jeju City. We are near a swimming beach with a windsurfing club, as well as trails to explore etc. Ask me more about our location.
In the summer, Jeju is perfect. Some think it is a little humid but we have air conditioners in the classrooms and accommodations. (not to worry) I personally don't love winter. It's windy, but spring, summer and fall make up for it. About Jeju, you have heard. It's a really beautiful place. There is a lot to see and do here.
ABOUT US
Well, I am Canadian (from British Columbia) and my husband is Korean. We opened Samyang's English Classrooms (SEC) almost 7 years ago because we love the area where we are living, we love teaching and working with kids and we felt like we had something to offer this community. We do our best for the students who attend our school and the teachers who work with us.
ABOUT THE SALARY AND BENEFITS
***Pay depends on experience and references. Our starting salary is 2.1 million won per month. We can offer more to teachers with English language teaching experience and training. We are really looking for a teacher with experience, training and a passion for language teaching. We offer a clean and comfortable furnished studio apartment near the beach. We offer roundtrip airfare, 50% medical and pension, 1 week in the summer and 1 week in the winter, national holidays and a one month salary bonus upon completion of contract.
Please send your resume and photo to sec_english@hotmail.com / sec_english @ hotmail.com
We would really like applicants to have their documents (criminal record checks, and apostilled diploma ready when they apply.) It is difficult to hire if you don¡¯t have your documents ready as they can take time!!!
