Busan University of Foreign Studies is inviting qualified scholars in the following areas for tenure track faculty positions for projects supported by Humanities Korea (sponsored by the National Research Foundation of Korea)
1. Outline of Positions
a. Institute for Mediterranean Studies 
- Field : Mediterranean Area Studies 
- No. of Openings : 2 (non-Korean) 
- Degree required : Ph.D.
b. Institute for Iberoamerican Studies 
- Field : Latin-American Area Studies 
- No. of Openings : 1 (non-Korean) 
- Degree required : Ph.D.
2. Notes 
a. Applicants for the Institute for Mediterranean Studies must agree to the research agenda, ¡°A Study on the Interchange Types of Civilizations in the Mediterranean Area¡± (Please visit the website of the National Research Foundation of Korea or www.ims.or.kr for further details). 
b. Applicants for the Institute for Iberoamerican Studies must agree to the research agenda, ¡°Building a Comprehensive Matrix for Latin American Studies¡± (Please visit the website of the National Research Foundation of Korea or www.lakis.or.kr for further details). 
c. If no suitable candidates are found, BUFS reserves the right to suspend the hiring process.

3. Qualifications
- Applicable to both Institutes
1. Applicants should fully understand and be committed to fulfilment of BUFS¡¯ educational vision and Evangelical Christian philosophy based on its founding principles. 
2. Applicants must be eligible for appointment according to private university regulations and are required to hold a doctoral degree in the relevant field. 
3. For the past 4 years (from Dec. 15, 2008 to Dec. 14, 2012), applicants must have more than 3 research publications including academic books, published in either 1) accredited journals & candidate journals for accreditation with the National Research Foundation of Korea, or 2) international academic journals (exclusive of Ph.D. dissertations). 
4. Researchers currently involved in projects for the National Research Foundation of Korea are eligible to apply. 
5. If hired, selected applicants residing in other countries and other provinces in Korea are required to move to Busan. 
6. Applicants must not be holders of Korean citizenship or Korean nationals.
- Institute for Mediterranean Studies
1. Applicants are required to speak at least one of the following 7 languages fluently; Italian, Turkish, Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, French, Latin. 
2. Preference will be given to those who speak English fluently. 
3. Preference will be given to those who also speak Korean.
- Institute for Iberoamerican Studies
1. Applicants are required to speak either Spanish or Portuguese fluently. 
2. Preference will be given to those who also speak Korean. 
3. Preference will be given to those who majored in either one of the following fields of study; Latin American Politics or Economics.
4. Documents to Submit

b. Thesis for M.A. & Ph.D. 
c. Research publications published between Dec. 15, 2008 - Dec. 14, 2012 
d. Academic transcripts (B.A., M.A., Ph.D.) & Degree certificates ¨C One (1) copy of each 
e. Verification of Work Experience & Verification of Employment 
f. Certificates of participation in research projects conducted by institutes or educational organizations (if applicable)
5. Recruiting Procedure 
a. Stage 1: Documentation assessment 
b. Stage 2: Interview for research area (inclusive of language test) 
c. Stage 3: General Interview
6. Application Dates

Two (2) signed copies of the printed applications and all other required documents must arrive by the deadline. Otherwise the application will be rejected.

7. Others 
a. Successful applicants will be hired as of March 1, 2013. 
b. Applicants being considered for a position will be informed by e-mail (absence of notification indicates that the applicant is not under consideration or ineligible for an offered position). 
c. Positions may not be filled if satisfactory candidates are not found. 
d. All documents in foreign languages except English should be accompanied by English or Korean translations. 
e. An application will be rejected if there are any missing documents. 
f. In the event that an applicant has been accepted or hired on the basis of false information given in the application, interview, or falsification of supporting documentation, the acceptance or hiring will be cancelled. 
g. Submitted documents will not be returned to the applicants. (However, and upon request, publications and copies of thesis materials are available for return between March 1 and March 31, 2013.) 
h. Any matters not specified above will be dealt with according to BUFS university regulations. 
i. Please ensure that the envelope containing your application and supporting documents is clearly labeled with your exact major, your full name and the department to which you are applying.
