About the Opportunity

Footprints Recruiting is very proud to announce that we have been selected as a supplier of teachers to the public school system in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for a three-year term.åÊ Positions are located throughout the Emirate, from åÊAbu Dhabi City, Al Ain, and several other smaller cities and towns in the vast Western Region.
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is in the process of a large modernization project in its public school system. Combined with heavy investment in material infrastructure, the government is attracting a large number of English-speaking teachers and other education professionals to modernize the public education system and dramatically increase both the English proficiencyåÊ and academic performance of its educational insitutions.
Besides great pay teachers will be provided with comfortable housing, flights to and from Abu Dhabi, health insurance, ample vacation time and an annual round-trip flight home for the purpose of vacation. This job comes with an excellent remuneration package and high professional standards - a valid teaching license as well as a minimum of 2 years classroom experience is required.

About the country

Abu Dhabi is a thriving commercial hub for the Middle East. It is located on the Gulf Coast about 2 hours drive from Dubai. It's one of the wealthiest places in the world and boasts a range of of world class amenities and facilities ranging from artificial islands to a Ferrari theme park. Within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, there are several cities of varying sizes - the largest city in the Emirate after Abu Dhabi City is Al Ain, located on the Omani border about 2 hours drive from Abu Dhabi City.
Teachers will be surrounded by many expats from all over the world (about 80% of the population of Abu Dhabi is foreign) and can enjoy a plethora of activities such and clubs and social events for and by expatriates. Getting around with English is no problem in Abu Dhabi andåÊ all modern comforts are easily obtainable.
The UAE has an excellent road network and many interesting locations for day and weekend trips - long, sandy beaches, great tourist facilities and lots of culture. For the more outdoorsy and adventurous people there's opportunity for desert adventures, camping and offroading.
Unlike some of its neighbours, the UAE is a much more liberal country making life for western expatriates much easier - for instance woman do not have to cover their heads, there is no complete alcohol ban and there's plenty of entertainment options like movie theatres and museums.

About Teaching in Abu Dhabi

Teaching in Abu Dhabi will put you in a challenging environment. Professional standards are high, and teachers will need a great deal of flexibility, adaptability and persistence. Teachers will work alongside principals and vice-principals as well as curriculum coordinators to ensure the highest quality education for their students. Working conditions will vary between schools and locations; teachers in rural areas will typically work with a smaller team. Keeping discipline is important and will require skills in classroom management.
Students in Abu Dhabi will have varying levels of English proficiency but all will be able to attend classes in English. Teachers have to closely monitor their students academic progress, as well as their ability to study and learn using English as the primary language of instruction. As a teacher you play an important role in not only teaching your core subject but also expand your students' world view and ability to function in an English-language environment.

The hiring process will involve an in-person interview. Interviews will be held in several locations throughout North America and the rest of the world and take place in February and March. For North America, the locations so far announced for interviews are New York, NY; Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA. Please make sure you are able to travelåÊ to your respective interview location around that time. Other locations will be announced.
Note: All positions require a valid teaching license/certification and at least 2 years of classroom experience obtained post-licensing.
