Intensive English Teacher Training Program
The Foreign Language Training Center at Korea National University of Education is now recruiting a highly-qualified and skilled native English language instructor for its Intensive English Teacher Training Program (IETTP). The IETTP is sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST).
Brief Description of the Training Program
1. 2 programs are run for a year. Those are two terms in each calendar year, with each term lasting six months.
2. One program is that Five months are spent training at KNUE and one month overseas.
3. The other is that Three months are spent training at KNUE and three months overseas.
4. All trainees are Korean teachers of English recommended by their respective provincial education boards.
5. Each class consists of between 14 and 16 trainees. The number of trainees per class is flexible.
Contract Term: 1 year (renewable): September 1, 2012 – August 31, 2013
Eligibility and Remuneration
Pay Level 1
Minimum 4 years teaching experience with any one of the following:
• MA in TESOL, English, English Literature, Linguistics, or Education (English preferable)
• English Teacher's Certificate
Remuneration
• 2.7 million KRW per month based on 18 hours of instruction per week
• 30,000 KRW per hour of instruction (overtime may be up to 8 hours per week)
Pay Level 2
Minimum 2 years teaching experience with any one of the following:
• MA in TESOL, English, English Literature, Linguistics, or Education (English preferable)
• English Teacher's Certificate
or…
Minimum 3 years teaching experience with any one of the following:
• BA in English, English Literature, Linguistics, or Education (English preferable)
or…
Minimum 5 years experience teaching English with a BA
Remuneration
• 2.5 million KRW per month based on 18 hours of instruction per week
• 30,000 KRW per hour of instruction (overtime may be up to 8 hours per week)
Pay Level 3
Minimum 3 years experience teaching English with a BA
Remuneration
• 2.3 million KRW per month based on 18 hours of instruction per week
• 30,000 KRW per hour of instruction (overtime may be up to 8 hours per week)
Benefits
• One way economy-class airfare to Korea reimbursed upon arrival
• Return airfare provided upon successful completion of contract
• Health insurance and pension subsidized 50 percent
• Furnished on-campus accommodation provided
• A monthly Housing allowance of 300,000KRW(Only available for off-campus residents)
• Severance pay of approximately one month’s salary after the successful completion of a one-year contract
• 30 work-days paid vacation (15 work-days in summer and 15 work-days in winter) during trainees’ overseas training (Vacation days increase with length of service)
