We welcome candidates with a Bachelor of Arts degree. However, applicants with education major, teaching certification or one or two years prior successful teaching experience are highly preferred. In addition, teachers with talents (swim coach, Kindermusik licensed teacher, P.E. instructor, Montessori certified, Violin, Art) for kids are greatly favored. Our Academy is a private co-educational institute providing a Pre-K to 5th grade educational program. We are affiliated with one of top Korean private elementary schools.
Job Duties:
Teaching Schedule - Teachers maintain a full-time weekly load with planning time provided every day. Teachers are expected to collaborate with one Korean teacher in class, parents, students, curriculum leaders, and administrators in the execution of their duties. Teachers will be assigned to positions for which their certification and preparation qualifies them. Teachers are encouraged to provide input and request their subject or grade level desires each year as teaching assignments are being prepared. Teachers are responsible to teach a couple of afterschool program classes per week.
Instructional Skills - Teachers will design and implement with support from the curriculum coordinator instructional plans and units related to subject matter taught. In addition, teachers will carry out the mission of the institute into their instruction.
Classroom Management Skills – There will be two teachers in the classroom. The former is a native English teacher, and the latter is a Korean teacher who will manage two classes for elementary and one class for Kindergarten. Teachers will create an environment of mutual respect and support within the classroom. Teachers will maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress.
Qualifications:
Candidates for teaching positions will only be considered that hold a B.A., teaching certificate or one to two years prior successful teaching experience at public or private schools. Initial hires are for one-year period with additional contracts being offered for 1-2 years.
•Working Days: Monday-Friday (5days/week)
Kinder: 2 Weeks Vacation + Korean National Holidays
Elementary: Summer, Winter and Spring Breaks + Korean
National Holidays
•Working Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm (Teaching Hours: 5~6 Hours/Day)
(45 min class & 15 min break, Teaching preparation and other teaching duties such as staff meeting, test evaluation, writing report cards, etc are not considered as working hours.)
•Student Level: Pre K-Grade 1
•Class Size: 12 students/class (Kinder)
16 students/class (Elementary)
•Salary: 2.2-2.85 mil KRW/ month
An extra month's salary (severance pay) is given for each full and only full year of employment.
The total yearly salary in the contract includes the severance pay.
