Job Description:
Must be a U.S. citizen. Raytheon is currently seeking a native speaker American English Language Instructor utilizing Defense Language Institute (DLI) materials and curriculum methodology to provide instruction to Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) students in Saudi Arabia. The candidate must be able to provide English Language Training (ELT) courses for RSAF students. The courses are designed towards gaining speaking, listening, writing, and reading, and grammar skills necessary to achieve standard entry for technical training, will provide students with a total immersion in the American English language in the classroom and associated facilities and communicate clearly in American English. The work may include nights, holidays and weekends on short notice. Candidate must be willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia for a minimum of one year. This is an un-accompanied assignment with potential work location in the following cities: AI Kharj, Dhahran, Jeddah, Khamis Mushayt, Riyadh, Tabuk and Taif. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Provide ELT training to achieve the goal improving the American English Language comprehension of RSAF students in support RSAF mission requirements
• The goal is for the RSAF students who participate in this program to achieve an American English Comprehension Level that is commensurate with the requirements of their specific RSAF Specialty
• All objectives shall be measured, documented and demonstrated to the level of skill
• required by RSAF
• The Instructor shall fulfill all U.S. DOD ELT program requirements, as currently provided by the Defense Language Institute, that shall ensure all designated training candidates successfully achieve the ECL and oral proficiency interview (OPI) scores required for follow-on operational and technical systems training/school house
• Coordinate class curriculum, conduct language classes and administer test for evaluating effectiveness of activities
• Identify developmental needs/gaps within a classroom population and take corrective action
• Analyze language training needs to adjust or modify programs
• Interpret conversations and maintain the integrity and meaning of the material
Required Skills:
Senior English Instructor: A minimum of 10 years of relevant EFL teaching to adults with at least 3 years of that time teaching at university level
General English Instructor: A minimum of 5 years of full-time relevant ESL/EFL teaching to adults
• Instructor will ensure that classroom curricula, facilitation, scheduling and maintenance are in compliance with contractual requirements
• Ability to instruct students in English using customer approved curriculum
• Experience instructing curriculum to foreign students
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, clients and other professionals
• Demonstrated ability to understand and work in the Arab culture
• Must be able to obtain a Saudi Arabian Employment Visa and Residence Permit (Iqama) for extended visit
• Must be able to obtain a "No Objection letter" if you have worked in Saudi during the last 3 years
• Must be able to obtain a Saudi drivers permit and capable of driving to and from training site
• Must be medically cleared by Raytheon
Required Education:
Senior English Instructor: M.A. in the following disciplines: TESOL / TEFL / English / Applied Linguistics / Education
• TEFL/TESL certification such as DELTA or equivalent
• Must have copies of all certificates and diplomas
General English Instructor: B.A. in English / Applied Linguistics / Education. B.A. in any discipline + TEFL/TESL certification such as CELTA or TESOL qualification including a minimum of 120 hours of face-to-face study and 6 hours of observed teaching practice.
• Must have copies of all certificates and diplomas
Desired Skills:
• Experience managing varied training efforts
• Experience as an instructor, teacher and/or instructional supervisor
• Written and verbal proficiency in Arabic
• Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist Qualification or equivalent industry certification (e.g., Green Belt)
