Full-time English Faculty Positions at Seoul Women's University in Seoul for Spring 2013


Seoul Women's University is seeking highly qualified and dedicated native English candidates for full-time faculty positions to begin March, 2013.
1. Opening Position
* Division of General Education(Language Education Center) : English Education

2. Qualifications
* Foreign citizen(Native English speaker)
* Applicants must have at least a Master's degree with 2 years of university teaching experience(12 hours per week or more) or a Bachelor's degree with 4 years of university teaching experience(12 hours per week or more) in ESL or EFL.
* English Education or English related degree holders are preferred.

3. Job Descriptions
* The employee is expected to teach 16 hours per week. In the spring and fall semesters, the employee will teach 16 class hours. In the summer and winter intensive programs, the employee will teach 96 hours for the term of up to six weeks.
* Other responsibilities include holding office hours, participating in faculty meetings and professional development.

4. Salary & Benefits
* The annual salary is 31,928,000 KRW.(A bonus for the intensive program will be added.)
* Subsidized national health insurance and private teachers' pension plan(50% balance paid by the employee)
* Furnished housing will be provided.(Utility bills are NOT provided.) If a university housing is NOT available, 500,000 won for housing stipend per month will be provided instead.
* Shared office with individual PC and telephone.
* Retirement grants will be made according to The Korea Teachers Pension Law.

5. Contract Period
* The initial contract is for one year, beginning March 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014.
* After successful one-year contract, the renewal is to be made in accordance with university renewal requirements.

6. How to Apply
* 1st Step : On-line Registration
* Candidates with an interest in a position should first apply online at the official website of the university(http://swuaps3.swu.ac.kr/wsa/waps/aps400_index.jsp) from October 24 to October 30.
* The website will be available on October 24 at 10am.

* 2nd Step : Submission of Materials
* Please send the following materials to the address below to arrive by November 1, 2012.

* All documents MUST be submitted by the deadline via postal mail or in person. Documents will NOT be accepted after the deadline.

7. Documents to be submitted by mail or in person
* 2 copies of on-line Application form (After filling in the on-line application template at http://swuaps3.swu.ac.kr/wsa/waps/aps400_index.jsp and print it out)
* Photocopies of all diplomas(BA, MA)
* All official transcripts(BA, MA)
* Certificate(s) of employment issued by the current or previous employer(s)
* Statement of educational philosophy
* A letter of recommendation(from the MA thesis supervisor or the current employer)
* MA thesis (in case of MA candidate)
* Abstracts of MA thesis (in case of MA candidate)
* Photocopy of the ID page of the passport
* Photocopy of the alien registration card(only for residents of Korea)

¡á All successful candidates must submit the documents below for VISA application upon employment confirmation.
* All diplomas apostilled, or verified by the Korean Consulate in the country of applicant's nationality.
* Apostilled national criminal background check
- CBC must be issued by the Central Government(the FBI for U.S citizens).
- Korean Immigration Office does not accept CBC issued by the local police station.
* Health examination check

8. Screening Standards and Procedures
* Applicant evaluation will be conducted in three stages.

(1) The First Screening
- University will assess the applicants' suitability for the corresponding field.
- University will evaluate the applicants' accomplishments for academic studies and employment history.
* Successful candidates will be individually notified of the result of the first screening. The second and the third stages will be conducted for the first screening qualifiers.

(2) The Second Screening : teaching demonstration
(3) The Third Screeninig : Interview
