Recruitment Ad for Spring 2013 Positions
Sookmyung Women’s University (http://e.sookmyung.ac.kr) is looking for enthusiastic, well-trained, and dedicated full-time English lecturers for the university’s General English Program Center (GEP Center: http://gei.sookmyung.ac.kr/).
Position
Non-tenure track, Assistant Professor at Sookmyung GEP Center (Seoul, Korea)
Job Description:
1) Teach English courses (15 hrs per week for 15-week semester) in Writing & Reading and Discussion & Presentation to the university’s freshman students.
2) Rate G-MATE (GEP’s Multimedia Assisted Test of English) as final tests.
3) Attend monthly department faculty meetings and hold two office hours and two hours in Write Spot /English Lounge a week.
4) Participate in a committee such as curriculum and textbook development committee
5) Take part in some official university and department events.
Qualifications required:
1) Native Speaker of English
2) M.A. in TESOL, TEFL, English or related fields + 1 year teaching experience (at least one semester university teaching experience is required)
3) B.A with at least 3 years of university teaching experience (English or Education related certificate holders preferred) + currently working for M.A. in the fields above
Contract Period
March 1st, 2013 ~ February 28th, 2014. One-year contract(renewable).
Salary & Benefits:
1) Master’s degree with 1-year’s teaching experience: 3.0 million Korean won per month
2) Bachelor’s degree with 3-year’s university experience: 2.9 million Korean won per month
(Housing allowance included for both salaries)
3) All full-time faculty privileges including health insurance, pension and affordable faculty housing near campus
4) At least 6 weeks’ vacation during the summer and winter vacation periods
Required documents:
1) Résumé with cover letter + two recent photos
2) Copies of degree(s), certificate(s) and transcripts
3) A copy of a valid Passport
4) A copy of alien registration card(if available)
5) Two letters of reference with contact numbers
6) If you are hired, you must submit the document below for visa application;
- health check
- official criminal record check which covers the whole country’s information.
- A copy of your degree which has an Apostil stamp or Verification from the Korean Embassy in your own country
