Non-tenure track PRACTICAL READING AND WRITING professor positions for 2013 Spring semester at SOONGSIL UNIVERSITY


The Baird University College at SoongSil University invites applications for non-tenure track full-time READING AND WRITING professor positions beginning March 1, 2013.
< Job Description >
Applicants are invited for a two-year position as a full-time, non-tenure track professor of Practical Reading and Writing starting in March 1, 2013. There are 15 teaching hours a week. Overtime is paid for additional teaching hours.
The faculty members teach in the following programs:
Practical Reading and Writing (PRW) Program: A compulsory credit-bearing course for all second-year students; average class size of 25.
This course is a requirement for all undergraduates in their second year. It is a rigorous, intensive course that helps students enhance their reading skills of English written materials and general writing fluency and academic skills in composition.
< Qualifications >
- Native speakers of English with MA/MS or above.
- English writing / reading teaching experience (university-level) preferred
- Able to come in for teaching demonstration and interview
-TESOL certificate preferred

- Starting salary from 37,000,000 won per year

3) All diplomas apostilled, or verified by the Korean Consulate in the country of your
nationality, or attached with documents issued by Korean Council for University Education
and certificates (scanned and attached)
4) National Criminal Background Check apostilled, or verified after September 1st, 2012 by
the Korean Consulate in the country of your home country (scanned and attached)
5) Letters of recommendation including referees' contact information (scanned and attached)
6) Copy of official documentation of previous employment (¡®employment certificate' or ¡®°æ·Â
Áõ¸í¼­') (scanned and attached)
7) Copy of ID page of passport (scanned and attached)
8) Copy of both front and back page Alien Registration Card (scanned and attached)
2.Second Round – Interview and Teaching Demo
- Applicants who pass the initial screening process will be invited for an face-to-face interview and will be required to do a short demonstration lesson. At the time of the interview and teaching demonstration, the following documents will need to be presented.
1) Original and copy of Diploma (apostilled)
2) Original official documentation of previous employment
A successful candidate who passes all the recruiting rounds will be contacted, and will be required to have the following documents in hand for candidate's own visa.
- Original apostilled diploma
- Original national criminal background check
- Three recent color photos (3.4 X 4.5 cm)
- Health check-up result ( http://www.hikorea.go.kr )

< Important Notes >
1) Document authenticity: all documents submitted must be original.
2) Interview: candidates must be available for teaching demonstration and a face-to-face
interview in November at Soongsil University in Seoul.
3) Contract period: the initial contract is for two year. (March 1, 2013 to February 28, 2015)
-Renewal based on the student-teacher course evaluations and administrative
assessment.
4) Visa: SoongSil University does not act as a visa agent, and a successful candidate is
responsible for preparing proper visa documents and carrying out own visa application.
5) Document exemption for F2, or F5 visa holders: health check-up result, national
criminal background check, and apostilled diploma are not required.
However, original and copy of diploma, original employment certificate, and other
documents are required.
